I'm
back...
As promised this news section won't be updated often, but I thought I'd mention - for those not checking in on my Blog- that I'm currently celebrating the good sales from the just released
Ultimate Avengers DTV from MLG Productions and am currently on the downhill side of post production on The
Condor DTV for IDT/FilmRoman Productions.
I'm also hoping to have my first sketchbook available for sale at this year's SDCC. I'll make it available for those of you unable to attend the convention

Bloggin'...
In an attempt to try and 'appear' more timely (and cool) I've added a Blog
to the site. From now on this spot will just be a place for 'headlines' and a more timely
diary will appear on the Blog page.
Just click on the link above and check it out!"

A new SDCC experience
Hi everyone I know its been awhile since Ive added
anything in the way of news to the site, but Ill be adding a blog (hopefully soon)
so it should be a simpler matter and something I can do during all my free time (ha ha).
Anyway, I went to the San Diego Comic Con
recently and for the first time I was invited to go as a participant. I was on a panel for
the Stan Lee Presents: projects and
had a chance to share the stage with the icon himself. It all turned out well and everyone
seemed to enjoy it. There was standing room only. Hmmm do you think it was because
everyone wanted to hear about our direct-to-videos or a chance to see Stan? And speaking
of panels I saw that Marvel just
had a panel concerning the direct-to-video I worked on for them at the Wizard Con, The Ultimate Avengers. Click on the cover
image above for a review of the panel.
I also wanted to thank everyone for all the positive e-mail concerning the
How-to
pages I added. I was very surprised at how many really enjoyed this stuff and was hoping
Id add even more. So, I had to do a little digging and I even had to contact Boyd Kirkland to see if he had any of the
pages I misplaced he did, thankfully. So it wont be long before every
construction sheet and style guide is uploaded. Unfortunately I only made these for the
main cast so if your favorite character isnt included Im sorry. But I
did add models for Pietro because he seemed to garner more
requests than anyone. I guess everyone likes a speed freak.

Construction and style guides for X-M:E
More materials has been added to this new section, including guides on how to draw Jean
Grey and a large section dedicated to the basics of drawing, like anatomy (hands, eyes,
ears, arms) and clothes (wrinkles & folds). An incredible source of guidelines and
tips for learning how to draw like a pro.

"Wow! I
realize it's been awhile since I've updated this section (especially since the last
comment I made was about coming back from the 2004 San Diego Con and I just recently made
reservations for this years!). I'm going to have to try a little harder. Actually I'm in
discussions to add some sort of blog-type feature to the web-site so updating what's new
will be a little easier - I hope.
Anyway a lot has happened in a short time. I finished a directing stint on
one straight-to-DVD feature (as well as designing the characters for it) and have moved
onto another directing gig for a series of straight-to-DVD features. On these new projects
I'm working with some really great people... including Stan the man himself!
I also want to let everyone know that a new section has been added to the
site. In it is the construction
and style guides for X-M:E. A surprising number of e-mails came in
asking for this so when I came across these old guides I asked my friend and web-master
Francesco to set it up. Not only did he do a great job adding these (as well as designing
the whole site), but he included some cool drawings that he created specifically for this
section. He is a man of many talents...
Speaking of the SD Con coming up several friends were suggesting I create a
sketchbook to sell - what do you think?"

"A week ago I went
to the San Diego Comic-Con and had a great
time. I haven't been there in years and had a chance to see how huge it's become. I made
the mistake of just going for one day (and a Saturday at that), but despite the crowds and
the lack of ventilation in the exhibit halls my daughter and I both felt it was worth it.
I had a chance to renew old acquaintances with friends that I haven't seen in
years and to finally meet many new friends I'd only corresponded via e-mail with. I picked
up several wonderful sketchbooks and it's got me thinking about creating my own prior next
to next year. I guess I've got some time to think about it.
It's also the third week on the new job and all I can say is that I'm pretty
damn sure everyone is going to really like what we're coming up with."

"Something
that has been brewing for awhile has finally happened. It's turned into an offer better
than I originally imagined. My friend Boyd Kirkland
(the producer of X-Men: Evolution and much
more) has landed a gig producing a series of Direct-to-Video features for Marvel and LionsGate.
The deal to make these videos was announced a little bit ago so I don't feel I'm saying
anything that many of you don't already know (or, at least, those of you who follow these
types of things) and they offered me a chance to co-direct and do character design work
on, at least, the first two - it was an offer that was hard to resist and DreamWorks was very gracious in letting me accept
this opportunity.
At this time I can't go into anymore details about the projects accept to say many will be
thrilled and delighted with what is planned. I am. "

"It looks
like the Gordon curse has finally been lifted. I have now officially worked on a film that
is a certifiable hit. Shrek 2 is
breaking box office records left and right and being predicted to be the big film of this
summer.
Im also currently storyboarding on Over the
Hedge (for DreamWorks) and this project looks to be coming together
nicely also.
I also have something else in the possible works, but Ill have to wait
to announce that next time (hopefully). "

I want to say that it has been a wonderful
experience to work on the amazing art of a master like Steve. Even if it started as a
commissioned job (webdesign has been part of my work in the last 10 years), I feel
honoured saying that our relation went beyond the work boundaries and it is a beginning of
a long (I hope) friendship. Sorry for the section of the website still under construction.
They will be ready soon. Thanks.
